Day 7: hem and Release!:: Sew Along # 7
Probably no need and this post but just in case ...
touch the hem
Today and here is where I step instructions for peteneras. I let hem large and not machine-sew because I do not like. , I'm always on hand with invisible stitches, but acknowledge that more enduring machine, and for children is a big plus. In the hems is where I have observed more hobbies, "tell me how to hem and tell you who you are." My mother, a seamstress and has exceptional hands virtuous hems ago ... the glue sticks! (Textiles, she insists, textile glue.)
The Oliver and S pattern is hemmed in 5 / 8 "(1.6 cms), which gives just enough to double back. Machine-sewn and ready Callisto.
I always do a minimum of 5 cm, because my children are growing faster than what I sew. Expanding the low flared hem implies that, flip it over, you have to embed a bit of room to fit because you will see the excess fabric on the back. Basting is done by passing the folded edge, then overlock, and pursing enough to fit custom apparel. It weaves the garment and iron with a lot of steam to soak and not forming wrinkles. Then sewn by machine or by hand.

Day 6: Prepare and sewing the straps:: Sew Along # 6
If you already have the straps to the desired length, we go step by step according to the instructions of the employer. If we have fallen short is to sew another piece of this:
HOW TO JOIN TWO STRIPS
BIES To join the two strips on the bias only thing to consider is that the stitching is done diagonally so as not to warp. In this link explained graphically.
Mark the center of the rod with the plate, and scored one of the long sides toward center. (I mark the two at this time, because I am with the iron pa "why should I lift 50 times, I wonder?
Now sew the strap to the dress starting at the armhole. With the dress inside out, we light the center of the rod to the side seam of the dress, lining the edges and so the right rod and the back of the dress are addressed.
continue on for more pins, always align the rod to the curve of the armhole, being careful that the edges stay aligned. Unlike what happened to the yoke seam, the bias strip is stretched and it is easier to adapt to the curve of the armhole. Eye to stretch the rod and not the dress, or would be distorted armhole. Where have all the pins, sew the armhole seam with a 1 \\ 2 ". If I bend machine is complicated, you can hand baste before stitching.
to finish sewing the strap, dial the second bend (if you have not done before) . Pin the sides of the straps with pins, covering the seam of the armhole. (At this point I usually cut these margins bulge not much)
ends get inside the fold. Now sew the strap from an end to the other, for the right dress and closer to the edge you can. You can use the average pin the zipper. The end of the tie rod ends right angle.
Well .... Congratulations to all who have come here because you already have dress. Tomorrow we release! Greetings

Lack Of Energy & Blood Donation
Day 5: We set the dress:: Sew Along # 5
Note
Today will be a short day because we do the side seams that are provided by you (really) and so I have time to give others hugs tonight. You just have to join the bodies of the dresses right sides. Pin is lining up the edges and stitched seam allowance, leaving a ½ ".
|
| Edges pin before sewing |
ironed the seams open and neaten the edges to prevent fraying. I use pinking shears and do not usually overcast if the fabric allows.
And Chimpún!
|
| ironed seams open on both sides |
But I will not go yet. I will tell you as you would a French seam, because it is mentioned in the instructions:
Disposed - the bonded facing setbacks.
- is quilted with ¼ "seam allowance. Are cut seam.
- He turns over the seam and right sides, and sewn with ¼ "seam allowance.
The advantage of this seam is that it is done very well on the inside, but the disadvantage is that bulge a lot, so fabrics used in very finite. I leave
More tomorrow. Greetings

Day 4. Sew the bodice to the dress:: Sew Along # 4
before for you to be cut yet:
before for you to be cut yet:
sewing margins are included in the pattern. All. Everywhere. Seams and hems. No need to add anything.
continue.
Today is an important day because finally we will give the pedal.
Yupiiiiiii (From now on we will follow in the footsteps of the sewing pattern instructions)
|
| The black stitching indicates the ½ "seam allowance |
Step 1. The right of the yoke face with the back of the dress. (In my photos have reversed this order, but I realized later !!!!). Perpendicular pin, gently adjusting the curve of the yoke to the line of clothing and aligning the respective edges. In the event that the yoke is shorter than the dress (size small) must make some cuts in the yoke seam allowance, to be extended just enough to sew the dress. I do it first with a pin igniting the center of the bodice to the center of the body and the respective ends. Then give small cuts gradually, indicating they are sufficient.
|
| Stitches in the Yoke to stretch and conform to the dress |
|
| seam allowance 1 / 2 " |
|
| first plane was iron |
|
| Set as seam is curved and gives volume to the front |
|
| If the photo you will see that I've had a baste 1 / 2 "as a guide to mark the fold |
|
| ready for stitching |
already have the back of the dress, stitch the front is exactly the same but is put into piquillo (or ribbon you have chosen) between the yoke and body. For the piquillo not move when I prefer to baste stitch before the dress.
|
| tacking the piquillo I myself just above the stitching. |

| Finito! | | | | |
